Calibração para Inquérito Epidemiológico de Cárie Dentária: Relato de Experiência

Este artigo tem por objetivo descrever as atividades de uma
capacitação teórica e prática em calibração de observadores para estudos
epidemiológicos de cárie dentária, a fim de se aferir a reprodutibilidade dos
mesmos. Três cirurgiões-dentistas, apoiados por Auxiliares de Saúde Bucal
(ASB) examinaram escolares de 12 anos e 5 anos de idade, utilizando os
critérios e códigos propostos pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS).
Calcularam-se os índices CPO-D e ceo-d médio e as taxas de concordância
Kappa interobservador. Os autores concluíram que a calibração favorece
diagnósticos padronizados, fundamentais para a validade e fidedignidade dos
resultados obtidos nos inquéritos epidemiológicos.
