Objective: To analyze the understanding of young male university students about intimate partner violence. Methods: A descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach was conducted with 15 students from health courses at a public university between November 2022 and May 2023. Semistructured interview was used for data collection and thematic content analysis for data analysis. Results: The participants understand intimate partner violence as anything that generates harm to the partner, whether male or female. They recognize physical and psychological violence as the main forms of violence in intimate relationships, and they also highlight the presence of jealousy in most relationships. Conclusion: The understanding of college men about the forms of intimate partner violence is restricted, requiring further clarification on the subject.
