Colostomy, which consists of the exteriorization of a part of the large intestine, has a profound impact on the lives of patients, requiring specialized care to facilitate adaptation and avoid complications. This study aimed to examine the existing scientific evidence related to nursing care for colostomy patients, through an integrative literature review. The research included publications between 2019 and 2024, selected from the SCIELO, CAPES and BVS databases, through well-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings indicate that the systematization of nursing care (SAE), combined with educational strategies and biopsychosocial support, is essential to encourage self-care and rehabilitation of patients. The role of the nurse goes beyond care delivery, encompassing approaches that seek to reduce the emotional and social impact of the ostomy. It is concluded that evidence-based practice and continuous training are essential to ensure the quality of care and improve the quality of life of colostomy patients.
