Considerações clínicas sobre a síndrome da combinação: diagnós-tico e tratamento

Abstract

As características clínicas da Síndrome da Combinação descritas por Kelly e apresentadas em diversos estudos relatados na literatura a partir da década de 70 são as principais fontes de diagnóstico e planejamento clínico para realização de uma reabilitação protética em pacientes parcial ou totalmente edêntulos. Considerando que a associação de Prótese Total Superior e Prótese Parcial Removível Inferior pode ser um dos fatores desencadeantes da Síndrome da Combinação, este trabalho tem por objetivo demonstrar as características clínicas e apresentar uma forma de tratamento, no intuito de obter próteses com esquemas oclusais adequados. Concluiu-se que é extremamente importante que o Cirurgião Dentista diagnostique e reconheça clinicamente as características da Síndrome da Combinação e proponha um tratamento reabilitador, restabelecendo função, fonética e estética adequadas às necessidades do paciente.
