In 2009, it was estimated that more than half of men aged at least 50 underwent PSA screening annually, and 75% of the population had taken the test at some point. The aim was to assess possible knowledge disparities regarding the efficiency of PSA in prostate cancer screening. The method involved collecting relevant data on the topic through a questionnaire. As a result, it was observed that the general population's knowledge level about the use of PSA is low, and even lower when the topic specifically concerns prostate cancer screening. It is concluded, from the presented data, that there is a deficiency in information, a need for awareness campaigns, and high-quality scientific dissemination about prostate cancer screening.

Keywords: PSA; Prostate Cancer; Screening; Early Detection.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Felipe de Carvalho Silva, Guilherme da Rocha Pereira, Pedro Silva Chaves, Vitor Augusto Rodrigues Alves, Federico Franscino Nesi; Rodolfo Guimarães Silvahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/4663Intimate partner violence: understandings of university men2025-04-05T21:02:37-03:00Bruna Cabral Barreto de Souzabrunacabral2000@gmail.comAline Vieira Simõesavsimoes@uesb.edu.brJuliana Costa Machadojuliana.costa@uesb.edu.brVanda Palmarella Rodriguesvprodrigues@uesb.edu.br
Objective: To analyze the understanding of young male university students about intimate partner violence. Methods: A descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach was conducted with 15 students from health courses at a public university between November 2022 and May 2023. Semistructured interview was used for data collection and thematic content analysis for data analysis. Results: The participants understand intimate partner violence as anything that generates harm to the partner, whether male or female. They recognize physical and psychological violence as the main forms of violence in intimate relationships, and they also highlight the presence of jealousy in most relationships. Conclusion: The understanding of college men about the forms of intimate partner violence is restricted, requiring further clarification on the subject.

keywords: Intimate partner violence; Violence against women; Young adult; Higher education; Jealousy.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Bruna Cabral Barreto de Souza, Aline Vieira Simões, Juliana Costa Machado, Vanda Palmarella Rodrigueshttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5111Situational Diagnosis: action planning tool in the Multiprofessional Residency in Family Health2025-09-17T15:14:41-03:00Carolyne Reduzina Queiróscarolynequeiros@gmail.comDeniza Soares da Silva Pousasdenizapousas@gmail.comRoberta Salgado Rodriguesrobertasalgador@gmail.comMariana Bezerra Silvamarianabezerrarmsf@gmail.comFernanda Magalhães Duarte Rochafernandamdrac@gmail.comViviane Cristina Salgado Diasviviane.csd@gmail.com
Situational diagnosis is a health management tool that enables understanding the social and health problems and needs of a given territory. This study aims to reflect on suicidal behavior based on the philosophical conception of Baruch Spinoza, comparing it with the predictive factors recognized in contemporary literature. Materials and Methods: This is a toric-philosophical reflection on suicide based on the conception of Baruch Spinoza. Results: For Spinoza, suicide is not the result of an active desire, but of a condition of impotence generated by external affections that limit the individual's power to act. This philosophical interpretation dialogues with contemporary findings, which identify factors such as hopelessness, social isolation, and mental disorders as precursors to suicide. Discussion: Spinozist understanding allows for a broader approach to the topic, by situating suicide not as an isolated act, but as an expression of the absence of active rationality and submission to passive affections. Final considerations: Preventive actions should consider not only clinical and social factors, but also strategies that promote autonomy, self-knowledge, and the strengthening of reason, favoring the reconstruction of the power to live. Spinoza's philosophy, in this sense, offers valuable insights for a deeper and more comprehensive approach to the psychological suffering that leads to suicide.

Keywords: Affect; Self-Destructive Behavior; Mental Health; Suicide; Mental Disorders.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Saulo Correia Peixoto, Sylvain René, Ismar Eduardo Martini Filho, Murilo Costa Rangel Pinheiro, Diego Linyker Nepomuceno David, Sérgio Donha Yaridhttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5466YouTube and information source on sexuality in the puerperal period2025-10-06T04:52:35-03:00Camilla Ribeiro Freitas da Silvacamilla.ribeirof@gmail.comCaroline Bruno da Silvacarolinebbruno19@gmail.comRicardo José Oliveira Moutaricardomouta@hotmail.comJorge Luiz Lima da Silvajorgeluizlima@gmail.comCauã de Carvalho Fernandes Luquinecaualuquine17@gmail.comCristina Portela da Motamotacristinap@gmail.comLarissa Murta Abreu Calazanslarissamurta@id.uff.br
Introduction: Sexuality in the pregnancy and puerperium period is an important topic, but little covered in healthcare and increasingly sought by the female population. In Brazil we still have worrying rates of these indicators, especially in the northern region. This study aimed to analyze the morbidity and mortality indicators of the Stork Network in the states of the North region from 2012 to 2021, through an ecological, time-series, retrospective study, with secondary data from the Maternal Mortality Monitoring Panel and Live Births, both from the Department of Health Analysis and Surveillance of Non-Communicable Diseases of the Ministry of Health's Health Surveillance Secretariat and data from the Ministry of Health's Department of Chronic Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections. The study showed that during this period the states of Tocantins and Amapá saw an increase in the incidence of congenital syphilis. The infant mortality coefficient increased in the states of Roraima and Acre. On the other hand, the states of Amazonas and Tocantins saw an increase in the maternal mortality ratio, with 2021 seeing the highest record of this indicator. The infant mortality rate continued to rise in the northern region until 2018, fell from that year onwards in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Roraima and Tocantins. The stork network has helped to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality, but the northern region still faces challenges in reaching the targets proposed by the Ministry of Health. In this sense, strengthening this line of care, with a focus on prenatal care, should be a priority for this region.

Key-words: Indicators of Morbidity and Mortality; Maternal Mortality; Infant Mortality; Maternal-Child Health Services.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Juliana Vianna Gonzalez Pazos, Janaína Oliveira e Castro , Nely Cristina Medeiros Caires, Fabiana Mânica Martins , Rosana Moysés, Breno Oliveira Ferreiahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5219Repercussions on the quality of life of men with Chronic Kidney Disease2025-06-09T05:59:00-03:00Keila do Carmo Neveskeila_arcanjo@hotmail.comAna Fagundes Carneiroanafagundes26@gmail.comAne Raquel de Oliveiraannebrastlly@gmail.comLayse da Silva Vieiralaysesribeiro@gmail.comBruna Porath Azevedo Fassarellabrunaporath@gmail.comWanderson Alves Ribeironursing_war@hotmail.com
Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has several distinct impacts and affects different social groups in different ways. In the case of men, the fragility imposed by the disease and the constant need for care can trigger negative feelings that will influence daily life and social life. Materials and Methods: This study consists of a descriptive exploratory research, with a mixed approach (QUAN + QUAL). Results: Kidney patients face, on a daily basis, limitations, frustrations, losses and biopsychosocial changes that affect their quality of life. Thus, constant management of numerous information about the disease is required, demanding continuous attention and effort to maintain focus and concentration. Discussion: Chronic Kidney Disease comprehensively affects the lives of patients, requiring multidisciplinary treatment that considers the physical, emotional and social dimensions. The study carried out highlights the importance of psychological support, overcoming economic barriers and the need for greater access to kidney transplantation. A humanized approach and comprehensive care are essential to improve patients' quality of life and help them deal with the difficulties imposed by the disease. Conclusion: In summary, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) significantly impacts patients' lives, requiring comprehensive care not only medical, but also psychological and social. Anxiety, emotional distress and economic limitations are common and affect physical and emotional health. However, it is necessary to consider subjective aspects of work. Objective: To analyze the work processes of the nursing team of an oncology outpatient clinic using the method of instruction to the double, using on-line resources, due to the covid-19 pandemic. Method: Research-Intervention, of qualitative approach, developed with the nursing team of a chemotherapy outpatient clinic in a university hospital. Results: the work on chemotherapy is very focused on the technique, and tends to be captured by procedures. However, the look at the daily activity, made to see the complexity of the daily life of the service. Discussion: The dimensions of the work processes of the outpatient clinic cross the work protocols, giving little space to reflections on changes that need to happen in the daily routine of the outpatient clinic. Caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella, from the Brucellaceae family, this disease has a high incidence, although its mortality rate is relatively low. However, it represents a significant public health concern. Dogs living in rural areas play an important role in the epidemiology of Brucella abortus, acting as secondary reservoirs or mechanical vectors of infection. Although brucellosis in dogs is less common than in ruminants, its presence can hinder disease control, especially in rural properties where biological waste management is inadequate. This study aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of anti-Brucella abortus antibodies in dogs used for exotic fauna control and residing in rural areas of the mid-northern region of Mato Grosso. The research was conducted at the Animal Health Laboratory of the Federal University of Mato Grosso – Sinop Campus. Blood samples from the dogs were collected and subjected to the Buffered Acidified Antigen Test (BAAT), an indirect diagnostic method for brucellosis used to detect the presence of antibodies. The analysis of risk factors considered variables such as sex, age of the animals, and municipality of residence. This observational, cross-sectional study used the Chi-square test to assess the association between these factors and positivity in the BAAT. Of the 142 dogs tested, 59 (41.55%) showed a reactive result to the test. The presence of positive animals was identified only in the municipalities of Sinop, Marcelândia, and Ipiranga do Norte, with 42 (29.57%), 7 (4.93%), and 10 (7%) cases, respectively. The high seropositivity rate among dogs is a concerning finding, as these animals often have close contact with their owners, increasing the risk of disease transmission to humans. These results highlight the need for effective preventive measures, including population control, proper biological waste management, and continuous health monitoring.

Keywords: Brucella spp; Serodiagnosis; Prevalence.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Rafaela Raiany Vitek, Paulo Sérgio Andrade Moreira, Eduardo Ferreira Faria, Paulo Roberto Spiller, Bruno Gomes de Castrohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/4872Hospital evolution of those involved in motorcycle accidents in the interior of Bahia2025-09-17T11:40:57-03:00Gabriel Aguiar Nunesaguiar.gbn@gmail.comAdriana Alves Neryaanery@uesb.edu.brVanessa Almeida Cardoso Silvavanessaacs@outlook.comLarissa Vasconcelos Santoslarissavasconcellos026@gmail.com
Introduction: Traffic accidents are a public health problem resulting in deaths or injuries on public roads, with motorcycles being the most common cause of morbidity and mortality. This study is justified by the magnitude of accidents involving motorcycles and aims to describe the evolution of individuals treated for motorcycle accidents in a general hospital in Bahia from 2013 to 2017. Materials and methods: descriptive and cross-sectional study, with secondary data from the medical records of individuals involved in motorcycle accidents. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 21, using descriptive statistics, and were submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Southwest Bahia and approved under opinion 1,461,993/2016. Results: 1,717 individuals were identified, 85.7% of whom were men, 35.7% were between 19 and 29 years old, 82.4% were brown, 88.8% had no occupational information and 49.9% lived in Jequié. According to the characteristics of the accidents, 26.2% of the cases occurred on Sundays, 9.7% in March, 26% in 2016 and 34.6% at night. 72.2% presented infection, 5.8% were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and 91.7% were discharged. The average hospital stay was 10.8 days. Discussion: the high frequency of motorcycle accidents results in a great social impact, being more prevalent in populations frequently exposed to risk behaviors. Final considerations: it is essential to raise awareness among the population about preventing traffic accidents, and to adopt control, inspection, penalization and education measures, in order to reduce the impacts on quality of life, the economy and public health.

Keywords: Traffic Accidents; Hospital Assistance; Epidemiology; Clinical Evolution; Motorcycles.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Gabriel Aguiar Nunes, Adriana Alves Nery, Vanessa Almeida Cardoso Silva, Larissa Vasconcelos Santoshttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5708Factors Associated with Multiple Sequelae in Individuals Involved in Traffic Accidents 2025-09-23T21:49:34-03:00Kaic Dias Santanakaicnsantana@gmail.comAdriana Alves Neryaanery@uesb.edu.brÉrica Assunção Carmo eacarmo20@gmail.comLuciano Nery Ferreiralnery@uesb.edu.br
Objective: To analyze factors associated with multiple sequelae in individuals involved in traffic accidents.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted at Hospital Geral Prado Valadares, Jequié-BA, evaluating hospitalizations from February to June 2019. This is an exploratory research with a qualitative approach, carried out in a Family Health Unit located in a capital city in the Northeast of Brazil. Semi-structured interviews were conducted containing questions about the sociodemographic profile, pregnancy, and the diagnosis of syphilis with pregnant women who had syphilis between 2019 and 2022. The interviews were conducted after signing the Free and Informed Consent Form. The content of the interviews was analyzed using the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin, through three stages. A total of 9 interviews were conducted, all with females, aged between 21 and 40 years old, the majority of whom were of mixed race/color and single marital status, with a number of children ranging from 0 to 7 children, all of whom declared themselves heterosexual, and most of whom had completed high school. Based on the interviews and through the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin, two thematic categories were developed: Feelings developed from the experience of gestational Syphilis and Knowledge about Syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections. The diagnosis of a condition or disease during pregnancy increases the development of negative feelings and causes concern throughout the pregnancy phase, since there is a possibility of affecting the fetus. In addition, this work reveals that the participants had little and/or insufficient discernment about Syphilis.

Keywords: Pregnancy; Syphilis; Diagnosis.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Adriele Gomes Santana , Manuela Maciel Souza Codeço, Marcia Cristina Graça Marinho, Marcio Costa de Souza, Acássia Benjamim Leal Pireshttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5268Generation at Risk: The Childhood Obesity Epidemic2025-09-27T08:20:18-03:00Daniela Avelar Tavaresdaniela.tavares@academico.unirv.edu.brCarla Queiroz Fernandes De Paulacarla.paula@academico.unirv.edu.brGiovanna Ferreira de Souzagiovanna.f.souza@academico.unirv.edu.brRenata Félix de Mourarenata.moura@academico.unirv.edu.brFernando Silvério Vieira Bento Pinheirofernando.silverio@academico.unirv.edu.brHeloísa Silva Guerraheloisasguerra@gmail.com
Childhood obesity is a chronic, heterogeneous, and recurrent disease associated with several health complications. It has been considered a major public health problem due to its high levels of prevalence worldwide. The objective of this study was to describe the prevalence of obesity in children aged five to ten years in Brazil, monitored in Primary Health Care. An ecological study with a descriptive approach, with data from the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health. Data from 823,421 overweight children aged five to ten years were analyzed. The Brazilian region with the highest prevalence of childhood obesity was the Northeast (34.4%), followed by the Southeast (32.6%). In 2023, boys had a higher prevalence of total obesity (15.9%) compared to girls (12.9%). The Southeast region had the highest consumption of vegetables and legumes (71%), and the consumption of ultra-processed foods exceeded the 80% mark in all regions. The importance of epidemiological analyses is highlighted so that preventive approaches to childhood obesity focus on viable, effective interventions that have a positive impact on children's health.

Keywords: Obesity; Child; Epidemiology; Child Health.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Daniela Avelar Tavares, Carla Queiroz Fernandes De Paula, Giovanna Ferreira de Souza, Renata Félix de Moura, Fernando Silvério Vieira Bento Pinheiro, Heloísa Silva Guerrahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5551Alcohol and illicit drugs: a cohort among tuberculosis cases2025-07-09T04:44:13-03:00Mariana Bobato Pulgattimarianabpulgatti@gmail.comArlindo Gonzaga Branco Júniormarianabpulgatti@gmail.comNathalia Halax Orfãomarianabpulgatti@gmail.com
Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is an ancient disease that persists as a health problem. Objective: to investigate the influence of alcohol and illicit drug use on the clinical evolution of TB cases in Rondônia. Materials and method: observational, analytical, retrospective cohort study with a quantitative approach, based on TB case records in the Rondônia Notifiable Diseases Information System, from 2018 to 2022. Sociodemographic, clinical, and follow-up data were analyzed in Microsoft Excel to calculate the incidence and mortality coefficients with graphical representation, as well as through descriptive statistics, relative risk with their respective 95% confidence intervals, considering p<0.05, in the Statistica software, TIBCO, version 13.5.0.17, after meeting ethical precepts. Results and discussion: 224 illicit drug users and 290 alcoholics were selected. There was a significant increase in the risk among users of illicit drugs for the prison population, lack of knowledge about the presence of another disease or associated condition, living in a rural area, reentry after abandonment, failure to perform sputum smear microscopy, chest X-ray and DOT, 11 or more contacts identified and examined. Alcoholic individuals showed risk with diabetes mellitus, extrapulmonary or mixed form, failure to perform or blank for the TRM-TB, secondary and tertiary care as the reporting unit and secondary care as the care unit. Conclusion: the use of substances showed associations with the clinical evolution of individuals with TB who perpetuate the chain of transmission of the disease.

Keywords: Tuberculosis; Alcoholism; Illicit drugs.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Mariana Bobato Pulgatti, Arlindo Gonzaga Branco Júnior, Nathalia Halax Orfãohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5798Expediente V16 N32025-10-28T16:37:44-03:00Editora das Revistas da Universidade de Vassouraseditorauss@universidadedevassouras.edu.br2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Editora das Revistas da Universidade de Vassourashttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5797Editorial V16 N32025-10-28T16:33:18-03:00Editora das Revistas da Universidade de Vassouraseditorauss@universidadedevassouras.edu.br2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Editora das Revistas da Universidade de Vassourashttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5275Theory of Interconnected Phases in Nursing Education: A Model for Evaluating the Efficiency of Health Interventions2025-09-18T14:18:28-03:00Bruno Ferreira do Serrado Barbosabrunoenfe@gmail.comAntonio Marcos Tosoli Gomesmtosoli@gmail.com
This article proposes a theoretical model called "Theory of Interconnected Nursing Education Phases" to assess the effectiveness of health interventions. The model consists of three interconnected phases: the Initial Phase, the Evaluative Phase, and the Return and Reinforcement Phase. Each phase involves different groups of students who carry out specific activities to educate, evaluate, and reinforce the learning of participants. It explores the relationship between the ability to access, understand, and apply health information and the enforcement of the right to health guaranteed by the Federal Constitution of 1988. Methodology: A comprehensive literature review was conducted using PubMed by Medline, and BVS databases. Articles published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish that addressed health literacy in the legal and health context were selected. Inclusion criteria considered studies exploring the intersection of health literacy, patient autonomy, and public policy development. Studies outside this context, without a primary focus on health literacy, duplicates, or without relevant primary data were excluded. Results: The analysis revealed conceptual confusion in Brazil between literacy, health education, and health literacy, often treated as synonyms. However, health literacy emerges as a broader concept requiring critical and analytical skills to interpret and apply reliable information. Patients with higher health literacy demonstrate greater decision-making autonomy and an enhanced ability to exercise their health rights, contributing to equity in access and quality of healthcare services. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of expanding the concept of health literacy in the legal-health context, fostering an informed and empowered population.

Keywords: Literacy; Health literacy; Health law.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Eloisa Karine Braga Lopes, Filipe Henrique Lopes, Michelly Costa de Mendonça http://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/4724The Maguerez Arc as an Active Methodology in Undergraduate Nursing2025-09-18T05:40:29-03:00Stéfany Marinho de Oliveirastefanymarinho@id.uff.brAngélica Santos de Souzaangelicass@id.uff.brHosana dos Santos Souzahosanasouza@id.uff.brDeise Mara Corrêa da Silvadeisem@id.uff.brGeilsa Soraia Cavalcanti Valentegeilsavalente@id.uff.brElaine Antunes Cortezelainecortez@id.uff.br
There is a growing demand for new teaching methodologies in higher education that aim to break with the traditional teaching model in order to train more critical and reflective professionals. The Maguerez Arch provides the opportunity for individuals to become aware of their actions and relationships with the environment, in addition to increasing their perception of reality and enabling actions in an effective and practical way. The objective of this study is to identify the use of the Maguerez Arch as an active methodology in undergraduate nursing courses. This is an integrative review, using the criteria of the PRISMA checklist and acronym PICo, carried out in libraries and databases: BVS, CAPES-CAFeERIC and SciELO. The AND operator was used to answer the following research question: How is the Maguerez Arch used as an active methodology in undergraduate nursing courses? Bardin's thematic content analysis was used for data analysis, and the data was organized into two thematic categories: Problematization methodology and Problem-based learning. The results showed the use of the Maguerez Arc not only as a Problematization Methodology but also as an integrated approach to Problem-Based Learning. The Maguerez Arc is an innovative active methodology in health education that helps students acquire knowledge rooted in their social context. In this case, it is interesting to note that people can use what they have learned theoretically to solve practical problems, thus increasing their ability to think critically and seek solutions relevant to reality.

Keywords: Nursing Students; Educational Technology; Active methodologies; Education Nursing.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Stéfany Marinho de Oliveira, Angélica Santos de Souza, Hosana dos Santos Souza, Deise Mara Corrêa da Silva, Geilsa Soraia Cavalcanti Valente, Elaine Antunes Cortezhttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5205Knowledge, Perceptions, and Informational Gaps about COVID-19: Challenges and Educational Strategies in Public Health2025-09-18T07:00:22-03:00Anne Caroline Nascimento Silva Alvesanneacadenfermagem@gmail.comElisabete Alvarenga Pereira Rodriguesbeth.apr@hotmail.comKaren Paula Freitas Leandroadv.karenfreitas@gmail.comKaren Valentino da Silva karenvltkaka@gmail.comLetícia Vitória Mirilli de Paiva leticia_lele98@hotmail.comNatália Oliveira da Silvanataliaos2000@hotmail.comDiogo Jacintho Barbosajacinthobarbosa@gmail.com
Objective: The main objective of this study is to assess the knowledge of health professionals, through a form, about COVID-19. This study analysed stress factors in the university environment and their repercussions on the lives of final year nursing students. This is a descriptive exploratory study with a mixed-methods approach that used the LIPP Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults (ISSL) through a form applied via Google Forms. The participants were students from the ninth and tenth terms of the Nursing course at UNIG, in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro. A total of 47 interviews were collected, with 72.3 per cent women (34) and 27.7 per cent men (13). More than 90 per cent of the students reported some level of stress. Among the most commonly cited factors were academic demands, such as the Final Course Work (TCC) and the challenges of the internship, as well as the personal demands of reconciling work, studies and family responsibilities. These factors contribute to a decline in students' physical and mental health, manifested in tiredness, insomnia and irritability. The results highlight the need for institutional and individual strategies to mitigate the impacts of stress. Welcoming academic environments, psychological support and actions that address both structural and subjective aspects are fundamental. Finally, this study expands knowledge about stressors, offering support for educational policies that favour the health, resilience and academic success of future health professionals.

Keywords: Nursing; Emotional Stress; Higher Education.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Pietro Pietro Henrique Benevides Pedrosa, Camila de Sousa Martins Isaias, Emanuelly Soares Barbosa da Silva , Bruna Porath Azevedo Fassarella , Keila do Carmo Neves , Wanderson Alves Ribeirohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/4926Reflections on psychosocial risk factors in health professionals in primary care2025-07-09T02:50:35-03:00Priscila Brandãoenf.priscilabrandao@gmail.comEnéas Rangel Teixeiraerteixeira@id.uff.br
Introduction: PHC professionals are essential when it comes to the quality of care offered to the population and the implementation of health policies. However, the conditions and organization of this work, such as: work stress; Overload due to high service demands are directly linked to quality of life at work. Therefore, it is essential to discuss the psychosocial risk factors generated in the work environment that affect the health of professionals. This study aims to reflect on the psychosocial risk factors present in health professionals who work in PHC. Methodology: Descriptive qualitative study, of a reflective nature, developed from a literature review. 74 articles were found. After reading the titles and abstracts, 13 articles were defined for discussion and critical analysis by the authors. Results and discussion: Although all existing factors in relation to the way of work affect the worker, it is worth noting that individual factors directly affect their performance, as the opposite also occurs. When identifying psychosocial risk factors, it is feasible for health unit managers to develop strategies to promote professional well-being. Final considerations: The reflection on psychosocial risk factors was met in accordance with the objective of this study, considering the studies that contributed to the discussion and that brought important aspects to understanding the concept of psychosocial risk factors and how they affect the professional health worker working in PHC.

Keywords: Psychosocial Impact; Occupational Risks; Primary Health Care.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Priscila Brandão, Enéas Rangel Teixeirahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/4844Report on the experience of nursing students in collecting data from anonymous forms at the HIV testing and counseling center2025-07-09T04:07:14-03:00Yasmin Oliveira Andradeyasmin2003@outlook.com.brMilena Silveira Fernandes de Oliveiraofsmilena@gmail.comThais Lopes Martins da Silvathais.lopes16@outlook.comCarolina Baptista Ribeirocarolinabapt.r.1989@gmail.comCarlos Marcelo Balbinocarlos.balbino@foa.org.brLucrécia Helena Loureirolucrecia.loureiro@foa.org.br
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) represent a significant public health challenge, requiring effective detection, prevention and treatment strategies. Within the scope of nursing education, there is a gap in the provision of practical experiences that allow students to develop skills in data collection and an in-depth understanding of specialized infectious disease services. The aim of this experience report is to describe the experience of seventh semester UniFOA nursing students in collecting and analyzing data at a municipal Anonymous Testing Center (CTA), linked to the Infectious Diseases Center (CDI). The methodology adopted was descriptive and observational, with the participation of students under teacher supervision. The activities included organizing and analyzing patient records from the year 2023, transcribing essential information into a structured form with 32 items. The results showed that the activity enabled the students to develop technical skills in accurate data collection and to understand the importance of correctly recording information for efficiency in the clinical environment. The interaction with the CTA's multi-professional team contributed to a broader understanding of the role of nursing in STI prevention and control, as well as to the development of an informed and empathetic approach to patients. The experience reinforced the importance of attention to detail, professional ethics and responsibility in collecting and recording information. We conclude that the practical experience at the CTA was fundamental to the students' academic and professional growth, filling the gap in practical training in infectious disease contexts. We recommend continuing studies in the area, implementing continuing education programs for health professionals and investing in technologies that facilitate data collection and analysis. These future directions could make a significant contribution to improving health services and promoting public health, as well as enriching the training of professionals committed to quality care.

Keywords: Sexually Transmitted Infections; Nursing; HIV Testing.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Yasmin Oliveira Andrade, Milena Silveira Fernandes de Oliveira, Thais Lopes Martins da Silva, Carolina Baptista Ribeiro, Carlos Marcelo Balbino, Lucrécia Helena Loureirohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5057Sexual violence against women: epidemiological data, underreporting and the role of nursing2025-07-09T04:15:01-03:00Sarah Valadares Bomtemposarah.bomtempo11@gmail.comGuilherme De Paula Stortti Meirellesguilherstorttimeireles@gmail.comIsabela Cristina Barros da Silvaisabelacristinabds@gmail.comSarah Figueiredo Assunçãosarahfigueiredo1515@gmail.comJulia Menezes Oliveira Rocha Chamonjuliachamon23@gmail.comJulliane Messias Cordeiro Sampaiojulliane.sampaio@ceub.edu.br
Characterize cases of underreporting in relation to women who have suffered sexual violence and discuss how nursing can help in these cases based on evidence in the scientific literature. Primary Health Care (PHC) is one of the main pathways through which this population accesses the Unified Health System (SUS), being the organizer of the entire Health Care Network (RAS). The reorganization and reorientation of PHC, as the gateway to SUS, has nursing as a fundamental profession prepared to provide humanized and comprehensive care throughout the network. This work is an integrative review of the literature whose objective is to know what has been published on nursing care in PC in PHC. Searches were conducted in the Embase, Scopus, and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases between June and July 2024, with a time frame starting in 2017. Two categories emerged from the research: “Advances in nursing as a protagonist in palliative care in Primary Health Care” and “Challenges in academic training and in the work process of Primary Health Care”. The need and importance of Permanent Health Education (EPS) to strengthen the role of nurses was highlighted. The objectives were: To identify the actions performed by nurses during low-risk prenatal care in the Unified Health System; To understand the importance of the nursing profession and its care for pregnant women undergoing prenatal care; and To describe the perception of pregnant women regarding the care received by nurses during low-risk prenatal care. Materials and Methods: descriptive, quantitative-qualitative research, conducted with 12 women who were undergoing prenatal consultations in public health units. Results: The ideal number of prenatal consultations was not visualized, but it was possible to identify actions recommended in the public health sphere. Pregnant women considered the consultations with nurses as advantageous and received important information for their health. However, some guidelines were identified as insufficient, such as: breastfeeding, mental health, reproductive planning and aspects of the postpartum period. Discussion: nurses who are able to perform prenatal care should promote satisfaction during consultations, increasing the confidence of pregnant women. Final considerations: the study contributes to government entities encouraging and facilitating specialization/residency courses in obstetrics so that nurses are increasingly qualified to provide maternal-fetal health care, expanding access to services and improving existing deficiencies.

Keywords: Pregnancy; Prenatal care; Nurse; Obstetric Nursing.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Elayne Arantes Elias, Marcelle Abrantes Freixo Faria, Lethicia Marisol da Silva Barrozo, Geovana Martins Silva, Saulo Basilio Lopes, Heloíza Moraes de Azevedohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5034Nursing care to prevent delirium in intensive care units: integrative review2025-09-09T19:49:52-03:00Maria Etelvina de Carvalho Sousamaria.etelvinacarvalhosl@gmail.comMiriane da Silva Motamiriane.mota28@gmail.comThayna Mayara de Oliveira Araújo Mourathaynaoliveirade@gmail.comFrancilene Lima da Silva Sousafranlica2009@hotmail.comAna Lívia Castelo Branco de Oliveiraanaliviacbranco@hotmail.com
Introduction: Delirium emerges as a critical problem in Intensive Care Units, in which nurses have a fundamental role in prevention, identifying risk factors early and implementing preventive interventions. Objective: To identify evidence in the scientific literature on nurses' strategies for preventing delirium in intensive care units. Methods: Integrative review that used the MEDLINE/Pubmed, CINAHL and LILACS databases, and the search terms: intensive care units, nursing care and delirium. No time limits were defined. Results: Seven articles that made up the final sample were analyzed after excluding duplicates and applying the eligibility criteria. The results revealed that nursing care is essential in the prevention and monitoring of delirium, highlighting educational actions and intersectoral articulations. The adoption of validated instruments by nurses is crucial, although there are gaps in knowledge about monitoring. Nurses value non-pharmacological disciplines and improvements in support, while the presence of companions and early mobilization are identified as protective factors, highlighting the need for integrated and evidence-based practices. Conclusion: The prevention of delirium in critically ill patients is crucial, highlighting the role of nurses in this care, the presence of companions and environmental management. The use of validated instruments, combined with other approaches, facilitates integrated care, reduces workload and care costs, in addition to opening up opportunities for research in intensive care.

Keywords: Intensive Care Units; Nursing Care; Delirium
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Maria Etelvina de Carvalho Sousa, Miriane da Silva Mota, Thayna Mayara de Oliveira Araújo Moura, Francilene Lima da Silva Sousa, Ana Lívia Castelo Branco de Oliveirahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5293Nursing Process in the Prevention of Nasal Septal Injury in Preterm Newborns: An Integrative Review2025-09-25T18:37:05-03:00Arthur Henrique Luizarthurluiz.enf@outlook.comKeli Fernanda dos Santos Ishackfishac@gmail.comPaola Carla Oliveira Borgespaola.borges@unesp.brSimone Buchignani Maigretsibuchignani@hotmail.comMichelle Cristine de Oliveira Minharromichellecom@fmr.pro.br
Preterm newborns are considered babies with a gestational age of less than 37 weeks. Usually these newborns are not fully developed. Therefore, they are subjected to non-invasive ventilation and referred to neonatal intensive care units. Objective: To identify in the literature the Nursing Process in the prevention of nasal septum injury in preterm newborns. Method: This is an integrative literature review in the SciELO and LILACS databases. Results: Only 5 articles were included, in which only these were the ones that reconsidered the guiding question of the work. When characterizing these studies, it can be seen that 5 describe Brazilian studies, of which 1 is from the SciELO database and 4 are from the LILACS database. Conclusion: The study reveals that nasal septum injury is related to the inappropriate use of the device, and the incorrect care practice, related to the lack of training and qualification of the professional team.

Keywords: Care; Nasal septum; Neonatal Nursing; Continuous positive airway pressure; Preterm Newborn; Nursing Interventions.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Arthur Henrique Luiz, Paola Carla Oliveira Borges, Keli Fernanda dos Santos Ishac, Simone Buchignani Maigret, Michelle Cristine de Oliveira Minharrohttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5345Strategies for achieving hypertension and diabetes control goals in a Family Health Unit2025-10-06T05:12:45-03:00Mariana Mendes Oliveira Limamariana.oliveira@sou.unifal-mg.edu.brMônica La Salette da Costa Godinhomonica.godinho@unifal-mg.edu.brZélia Marilda Rodrigues Resckzelia.resk@unifal-mg.edu.brFábio de Souza Terrafabio.terra@unifal-mg.edu.br
The Family Health Strategy uses territorialization to plan specific actions based on health indicators, allowing for more efficient interventions and health policy planning. This study reports the experience of implementing steps/strategies/actions to achieve the goals of systemic arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus indicators in a Family Health Unit in the South of Minas Gerais. The descriptive research was conducted by a Resident Nurse, who developed seven steps/strategies/actions to improve care. They are: Proposing a meeting with team professionals; Recognizing the enrolled population; Conference and list preparation; Inviting the population affected by systemic arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus; Approaching patients during screening/routine in the Family Health Strategy; Home visits to patients affected by systemic arterial hypertension and/or diabetes mellitus; and Feeding the information system. The results showed that the steps/strategies/actions allowed for continuous analysis, adapting health practices and improving the team's ability to plan, implement and evaluate their actions. This contributed to a more informed and effective approach to caring for the population.

Keywords: Family Health Strategy; Territorialization of Primary Care; Health Promotion; Community Health Agents; Chronic Disease Control.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Mariana Mendes Oliveira Lima, Mônica La Salette da Costa Godinho, Zélia Marilda Rodrigues Resck, Fábio de Souza Terrahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5179Indicators sensitive to prenatal care by nurses in primary health care: scoping review2025-09-18T06:52:02-03:00Nádia Cecília Barros Tostesncbtostes@id.uff.brZenith Rosa Silvinozenithrosa@id.uff.brClaudio José de Souzaclaudiosouza@id.uff.brJuliana Dias de Souto Pereirajulianadsp@id.uff.brLeilson da Silva Limaleilson.lima@unifap.br
Introduction: Prenatal care aims to track and adequately manage potential problems during pregnancy. This study is a phase of a doctoral thesis and aims to map in the literature the care provided to pregnant women in primary health care that serve as indicators of the quality of prenatal care by nurses. Materials and Methods: scoping review, based on the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Methodology and protocol registered in the Open Science Framework. The search was conducted in 10 databases and in two academic search engines. The findings from which indicators could be derived were classified according to the quality dimensions established by the Nursing Role Effectiveness Model (Structure, process or outcome indicators). Results: the nursing care that emerged from the 15 selected studies was presented through a synoptic table, which contained findings from which quality indicators could be derived. Discussion: The findings of this mapping identified 11 future quality indicators. The findings indicate that in order to achieve better quality prenatal care by nurses, it is necessary to systematize care in the structural, procedural and outcome dimensions. Conclusion: the mapping enabled the stratification, based on current evidence, of nursing care in prenatal care in primary care, with the potential to contribute to the development of future studies and to assist in practice scenarios that aim to improve care for pregnant women.

Keywords: Prenatal Care; Pregnant Women; Nursing; Primary Health Care; Quality Indicators, Health Care.
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nádia Cecília Barros Tostes, Zenith Rosa Silvino, Claudio José de Souza, Juliana Dias de Souto Pereira, Leilson da Silva Limahttp://192.100.251.116/index.php/RPU/article/view/5575Basic Life Support In Primary Care: Possibilities And Challenges2025-08-31T16:40:21-03:00Elenildo Pinto Borgesnildoborges2475@gmail.comSebastião Jorge da Cunha Gonçalvessjcunha@uol.com.brLilia Marques Simões Rodriguesliliasrodrigues21@gmail.comMário Luiz Jacobino Ribeiromlj30ribeiro@gmail.comCassiano José de Almeida PereiraCassiano.pereira@univassouras.edu.brMargarida Maria Donato dos Santosmargarida.donato@universidadedevassouras.edu.br
Cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) is one of the main causes of sudden death worldwide, requiring an immediate and qualified response from health professionals. Objective: To identify scientific productions on Basic Life Support in the context of Primary Health Care and analyze the possibilities and challenges of implementing Basic Life Support (BLS) in Primary Health Care. Method: Integrative review carried out in the MEDLINE, LILACS, IBECS, LIPECS and SciELO databases, through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), with the selection of publications in Portuguese, available in full, published between 2015 and 2025. The descriptors used were: Basic Life Support; Nursing; Primary Care and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Results: Twelve articles were included in the final analysis, from which two central thematic categories emerged: Barriers to the implementation of BLS in Primary Health Care and Strategies for training and continuing education. Conclusion: Significant gaps in the knowledge and practice of professionals, relevant structural barriers and the need for periodic and contextualized training were identified. On the other hand, the studies analyzed point to promising ways to strengthen these actions, through practical training, realistic simulations, investments in infrastructure and greater coordination with emergency services.

Keywords: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Basic life support; Nursing; Primary health care
2025-10-31T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Elenildo Pinto Borges, Sebastião Jorge da Cunha Gonçalves, Lilia Marques Simões Rodrigues, Mário Luiz Jacobino Ribeiro, Cassiano José de Almeida Pereira, Margarida Maria Donato dos Santos
