The study is carried out with the objective of knowing what is the assistance provided to pregnant and puerperal women in the Brazilian prison system. It is known that pregnancy is a remarkable cycle in a woman's life, and when talking about pregnancy within the prison environment, there are some changes both in the assistance provided to them and in the woman's life itself. In its methodology, a literature review was carried out with a qualitative approach, using the descriptors nursing, pregnant women, prisons and prisoners, the selected articles had a time frame between 2012 and 2022 and were in Portuguese. As a result, we can observe that the assistance to these pregnant women is deficient, unlike those who are free, and the stay in prison favors these pregnant women to develop diseases because it is an environment in precarious conditions. It concludes that assistance in the prison environment needs improvement, as it is a right of this population.
