This study search the most important databases for articles in the scientific literature with fundamentals related to palliative care provided to pediatric oncology patients and communication with the families of these patients, as well as the importance of care and interactions between the nursing team - patient - family members. An integrative literature review was used in the following databases: lilacs, BDENF – Nursing, seeking the expressions palliative care, pediatric oncology, nursing staff and cancer patients and their families. Fifty articles were found between the years 2015 to 2021 and among these, 11 articles were chosen according to the criteria of direct relationship with the chosen topic. Of these 11 articles, 01 was published in the lilacs database, 2 in the BDENF database, 05 published in both databases. As a result of these studies, two most important themes were analyzed: firstly, the understanding of nursing professionals regarding palliative care in pediatric oncology, and secondly, the connections established in the relationships between professional nursing patients and their families. Palliative care is of paramount importance not only for children but also for their families, it is also very important to prepare and provide psycho-pedagogical assistance to nursing professionals, as they are also obliged to deal with the imminent loss. Finally, communication and trust between patient and family nurses is essential.
