A Percepção dos Trabalhadores da Zona Rural e Urbana em Relação ao Toque Retal como Medida de Prevenção do Câncer de Próstata

No Brasil o câncer de próstata é o segundo mais comum entre os
homens, atrás apenas do câncer de pele não-melanoma (Migowski e Silva,
2010). Segundo Brasileiro Filho (2006), a neoplasia prostática é uma doença
crônica, progressiva e degenerativa, sendo a terceira causa mais freqüentes de
óbito, em pacientes acima de 55 anos. Nesta perspectiva, o mesmo vem com
objetivo de Investigar o que os homens das áreas Rural e Urbana do município
de Vassouras/RJ pensam sobre o toque retal. Trata-se de uma abordagem de
caráter qualitativo, realizada com um grupo constituído de vinte indivíduos
do sexo masculino, sendo dez da área rural e dez da área urbana, com idade
entre cinqüenta e sessenta anos, todos devidamente esclarecidos e submetidos
a questionário com perguntas destinadas a atender os objetivos propostos. Os
resultados mostram que apesar dos indivíduos da área urbana terem maior
conhecimento sobre a patologia do que os da área rural, ambos os grupos
seguem sobre o mesmo patamar no que diz respeito ao descaso com os cuidados
necessários à sua saúde. O machismo é um dos fatores pela não procura à
assistência no combate a esta patologia e é com base nisso que se fez necessário
o estudo.
