Abstract

Introduction: This study investigated the relevance of nursing in the context of the Heel Heel Test, highlighting its importance in reducing stress in newborns and their parents. In addition to technical skills in sample collection, nursing professionals play a crucial role in carefully educating parents, communicating effectively during the procedure, and using techniques to comfort the baby. Methodology: A bibliographic study was carried out with recent literature focused on the topic. Analysis and discussion of results: Categories were listed that described the ability to transmit clear and empathetic information as contributors to building a relationship of trust, creating an environment conducive to reducing stress. Comfort techniques during sample collection not only minimize newborn discomfort, but also influence parents' perception of care. The importance of nursing extends beyond the test, encompassing post-test follow-up. Emotional support during the disclosure of abnormal results makes it easier to understand next steps and adjust to possible diagnoses, easing the transition to specialized medical evaluations. Conclusion: This study highlights the comprehensive role of nursing in the Foot Test, not only as technical executors, but as specialists who provide comprehensive care. The holistic approach, considering technical, emotional and communicative aspects, contributes to reducing stress in newborns and their families, highlighting the great importance of nursing in this context.
