Abstract

Preterm newborns are considered babies with a gestational age of less than 37 weeks. Usually these newborns are not fully developed. Therefore, they are subjected to non-invasive ventilation and referred to neonatal intensive care units. Objective: To identify in the literature the Nursing Process in the prevention of nasal septum injury in preterm newborns. Method: This is an integrative literature review in the SciELO and LILACS databases. Results: Only 5 articles were included, in which only these were the ones that reconsidered the guiding question of the work. When characterizing these studies, it can be seen that 5 describe Brazilian studies, of which 1 is from the SciELO database and 4 are from the LILACS database. Conclusion: The study reveals that nasal septum injury is related to the inappropriate use of the device, and the incorrect care practice, related to the lack of training and qualification of the professional team.
