When a person is born deaf, they face several challenging processes when performing some daily functions that depend on hearing. Therefore, these people adapt to their experience and go about their lives according to their limitations, improving their behavioral methods according to the needs that require them. When this limitation is applied to mothers during motherhood, the care offered to their children is experienced and offered differently in the adaptation of care practices, since the child needs only and exclusively their assistance and, in most cases, hearing becomes essential to offer specific care to newborns. Furthermore, when a deaf mother seeks assistance in offering health promotion and prevention to her children, many professionals do not provide excellent care that allows for the resolution of their needs due to failure in this communication and often the use of insufficient signs for clear understanding. Objective: to identify the behavioral care of a deaf mother with her children. Methodology: This study is a field research with a qualitative approach through a life story narrative. A questionnaire with semi-structured open and closed questions about the care of a deaf mother with hearing children was used as a means of data collection. Results: The research, based on the life history method, investigated the maternal experience of a deaf woman with hearing children, revealing how she exercises care with autonomy, affection and her own communication strategies. The data highlighted the importance of the family support network in mediating communication, as well as the challenges faced in accessing health care and in building emotional bonds in contexts of linguistic difference. Conclusion: It is concluded that deafness is not an impediment to motherhood, but a condition that requires adaptations according to its limitations, as well as respect and inclusion, reinforcing the need for public policies that guarantee accessibility and value diversity in the exercise of maternal care.
