Violence has grown significantly in recent times and has affected the population as a whole, men and women, young and old, white and black, rich and poor, constituting a serious public health problem. In this context, gender-based violence presents significant particularities, being a worldwide phenomenon on the rise that violates human dignity, contradicting equality between people, with fatal outcomes occurring in all social classes and preferably at home. Materials and Method: This is an ecological, time series, quantitative epidemiological study based on the DATASUS, TABNET database. Defined by causes: external causes, intentional self-inflicted injuries, assaults, and legal interventions, intoxications and poisoning, falls, land transport accidents, by age group and sex. The descriptors: violence, epidemiology, during the period 2019 to 2021. Conclusion: In the reported cases of violence, we identified women as the main victims, children and individuals with brown skin color; Intersectoral strategies to support victims of violence and their families must be focused on the most vulnerable groups.
