Training on the Nursing Process at a university hospital: experience report

Abstract

Introduction: The Nursing Process is composed of five stages that are interrelated, interdependent, recurring and cyclical. namely: Nursing Assessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Nursing Planning, Nursing Implementation and Evolution. The objective consists of developing training on the Nursing Process (NP) in the clinical hospitalization sectors. Introducción: El Proceso de Enfermería se compone de cinco etapas que son interrelacionadas, interdependientes, recurrentes y cíclicas. a saber: Evaluación de Enfermería, Diagnóstico de Enfermería, Planificación de Enfermería, Implementación y Evolución de Enfermería. El objetivo consiste en desarrollar la formación sobre el Proceso de Enfermería (NP) en los sectores de hospitalización clínica. Results: The total number of on-site training sessions was 15. 16 nurses and 14 nursing technicians participated, covering the sectors of internal medicine, nephrology, infectious and parasitic diseases and psychiatry. Although the target audience was nurses, the nursing technicians on duty also showed interest in the content. Discussion: This training sequence seeks teaching-service integration and consists of an institutional incentive strategy for the need for knowledge. The on-site training modality favors adherence, as it takes place in the work environment. Final considerations: The proposal met an institutional need, considering that the hospital is developing a program on the implementation of the Nursing Process, together with the Regional Nursing Council (COREn).
