Burnout syndrome in hospital nurses

Burnout is more common in professions that deal with the suffering of others, such as nursing, due to constant exposure to stressful factors, such as lack of staff, work overload, irregular shifts, dealing with difficult patients, conflicts in the workplace, and lack of recognition and participation in decision-making. These factors contribute to the development of the syndrome and affect the mental health of professionals. study consists of a literature review with the objective of analyzing burnout syndrome in hospital nurses. A literature search was carried out using the BVS, MEDLINE, LILACS and SCIELO databases and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 9 articles were selected. It was evident that there are several triggering factors for burnout syndrome in hospital nurses that can be avoided and prevented. Stress in the work environment of nursing professionals, due to overload, adverse conditions and lack of resources, contributes to the development of burnout syndrome, harming their physical and emotional health and the quality of care. Implementing psychological support interventions and continuing education is essential to mitigate these impacts. Recognizing these issues is essential to improve the well-being of workers and the quality of care provided to patients.
