Abstract

Primary Health Care (PHC), the first level of health care, is characterized by high resolution. It is responsible for the prevention, promotion, treatment and monitoring of the user's health. This study aimed to describe and analyze the attributes of PHC and the work tools of the teams in a Family Health Unit (USF). It consists of an experience report carried out from a descriptive and qualitative analysis of the daily life of the service, in which medical students visited a USF in a municipality in the western region of Paraná. The work plan of the practice had as an approach the identification and analysis of the attributes of PHC, home visits, user embracement and health education. It was identified that the USF meets the attributes of PHC and effectively carries out home visits and user embracement, but there is still a need for health education activities. This experience adds a more critical, humanistic and reflective view of the Unified Health System to students' medical training and develops relevant academic skills capable of strengthening and enriching the Brazilian health system.
