Introduction: The objective of this research project is to identify the existing literature on matrix support from nurses in mental health for FHS teams. Materials and Methods: State-of-the-art review, which identified 2,968 studies, 2,486 in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), 249 in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and 233 in the Nursing Database (BDENF). After applying the eligibility criteria in the databases and the exclusion criteria, 6 studies were selected. Results: The 6 articles were synthesized and systematically arranged in two tables for better presentation of the information. Discussion: It is highlighted from the studies discussed above that nursing professionals have an important role in the exercise of Matrix Support to FHS teams, due to the high demand for meeting the mental health needs in primary care by the population, especially with regard to the restructuring and reorganization of health services in municipalities. Final considerations: Therefore, it is necessary to increase integrative actions for matrix support in Mental Health, aiming to improve the skills of ESF teams through training actions triggered by nurses, in addition to expanding studies on strategies in this perspective.
