Although the characteristic food selectivity behaviors in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have been extensively studied, their etiology is still unknown. Studies suggest that some multifactorial causes may lead to developmental difficulties, especially nutritional difficulties in children. The aim os this work is to analyze eating difficulties in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in an institution that serves children with special needs through a semi-structured questionnaire. At the end of the work, it is expected that it will be possible to expose the eating difficulties that make up the disorder and promote individualized, adequate care that guarantees nutritional status. The participation of parents or guardians and a multidisciplinary team, especially the nutritionist, is extremely important, so that through diagnosis, actions can be carried out aiming the introduction and acceptance of foods, in order to treat food selectivity, improve quality of life and health.
